We Need Your Help!!!

Dear Friends and Family,

Jason and I, as well as the kids, have spent a little more than 3 years praying and seriously discussing adoption, asking “How does James 1:27 apply to OUR family?” God has shown us much (and changed us much) since then. He led Lily and I to China on a mission trip last summer where I got to see her begin to own her own faith for the first time. And I am pretty sure the Lord did more work in me than He did through me while we were there. The orphan crisis became so much more personal to me, now that there were little faces that went along with it. And my outlook on children with “special needs” completely changed. I came home feeling both broken and mended all at the same time. I met several children that I would have brought home if I could have. But there was one little boy in particular that stole a special place in my heart, as well as Lily’s. We both cried when we had to leave him. And have cried several times since. We have both been praying that God would give him the loving family he needs and so deserves. There has not been a day that has gone by that I have not thought of him.

Then, in November, Jason and I felt God telling us it was time to take a leap of faith and adopt. The moment we said “Okay, God we are all in”,  we saw Him begin to work miracles. From that very moment, we saw things come together that we had not even dreamed up. We have been in total amazement as He has created this whirlwind of faithfulness that seems to envelope us. Knowing that He is doing all the real work and that the things that have come together are just not of us.

We chose Lifeline as our adoption agency, and have since completed our home study and are near sending our Dossier to China. We have simply been trying to be obedient in the small and simple things, with every form, fingerprint, and signature as we wait. Jason and I began looking through profile after profile, and little face after face, all the while praying that God would lead us to the little one that He had set aside just for us. After 4 months of searching for his file, accepting that we might not, and praying over the little faces of many other little boys, God led us right back to the one we had been praying for all along. And just like that…WE FOUND THE NEXT PARSLEY!!!!!!

Meet Ethan Isaac. He will be 3 years old this coming December. His favorite thing to do is play outside. He loves cars, playing ball, and snuggling. Ethan has a large scar full up the center of his chest where they fixed his little broken heart when he was just a year old. He is so full of joy and laughter! He has Down Syndrome. Yes, he has a “special need”. And it’s to be loved. He’s really not any different than the rest of us. He just needs a loving family that will show him how wonderful he is and teach him about the love of all loves. A family he can thrive in and grow with. We believe God has chosen us for just this. (Although, chances are that he has far more to teach us than we have to offer him. I’ve noticed how God tends to work that way.) We hope to bring Ethan home to our family around the end of this year. But, we need your help to do so. Will you come alongside of us in this journey and help bring Ethan home? After all, we are meant to journey together.

There are lots of ways that you can support us:

  • PRAYERS. We need your prayers. Prayers for Ethan and his current caregivers. Prayers that he will be able to remain in his current foster home until we can bring him home. Prayers that the grants/funds will come in for the expenses to adopt him. Prayers for our hearts as we wait. We know that where 2 or more are gathered in prayer, God is with us.
  • ENCOURAGEMENT. This journey is difficult at times. The waiting especially. We need people around us lifting us up and spurring us on. You can follow our blog to get the latest updates and leave comments of encouragement as we walk this out.
  • FINANCIAL SUPPORT. We are so thankful that we have the means to provide for another child’s daily needs, but the reality is there is a substantial amount of money needed to bring our little one home. And we just can not do it alone. We want you to know though that we are also doing our part to be obedient with our finances to fund this journey. We have struggled with the thought of asking you to support us. But, we also know that God uses His people for His purposes. We would be honored to know that you helped us bring Ethan home and that this one child will have the opportunity of growing up in a loving Christian family.

This letter has been one of much prayer and thought. Honestly, this may be the hardest thing that God has ever told us to do. As Christians, we are called to support adoption, because we ourselves are adopted through Christ. Sure, for some of us this ultimately means adoption. But, that is not what He has for all of us. For some it just means coming alongside of other families and supporting them. So, we are so thankful for however you feel called to contribute. We are just patiently (and impatiently) waiting for God’s perfect timing for Ethan to be in our arms. We are humbly on our knees before God, knowing that He will do great things through our faith in him. Your prayers, encouragement, support, and donations will be cherished. No words could ever express our gratitude for your love for our family.

Much Love and Many Blessings,

{Alex & The Parsley Fam}
